7-Day Amarnath Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Amarnath Cave
    10 minutes (1.3 miles) from Pahalgam

    Marvel at the natural beauty of Amarnath Cave, a Hindu shrine located at an altitude of 3,888m. Start your trek early in the morning and reach the cave by afternoon. Take a dip in the icy waters of Amarnath Stream, and seek blessings from the ice lingam. Stay overnight at the cave campsite.

  2. Day 2: Chandanwari
    30 minutes (15.5 miles) from Amarnath Cave

    Head towards Chandanwari, the starting point of the annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage. Enjoy picturesque views of the Lidder Valley and snow-capped mountains on the way. Visit the nearby Sheeshnag Temple, and take a dip in the holy Sheeshnag Lake. Return to the Amarnath Cave campsite for dinner and overnight stay.

  3. Day 3: Baltal Valley
    2 hours (61 miles) from Amarnath Cave

    Drive to Baltal Valley, a scenic camping site nestled between the Himalayan Mountains. Take a pony ride to the nearby Zoji La Pass, and enjoy panoramic views of the Sonamarg Valley. Visit the nearby Kheer Bhawani Temple, and learn about the legend of the Goddess Ragnya. Stay overnight at the Baltal Valley campsite.

  4. Day 4: Sonamarg
    1 hour 30 minutes (43.7 miles) from Baltal Valley

    Explore the charming town of Sonamarg, also known as the "Meadow of Gold". Take a pony ride to the Thajiwas Glacier and enjoy the picturesque views of the snow-capped Himalayan Mountains. Visit the nearby Gadsar Lake and enjoy a picnic by the lake. Return to the Baltal Valley campsite for dinner and overnight stay.

  5. Day 5: Srinagar
    3 hours (87.8 miles) from Baltal Valley

    Drive to Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Visit the iconic Mughal Gardens, including Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh and Chashme Shahi Garden. Take a Shikara ride on the picturesque Dal Lake and visit the floating market. Enjoy local delicacies at the Hazratbal Market. Stay overnight at a hotel in Srinagar.

  6. Day 6: Gulmarg
    2 hours 30 minutes (56.9 miles) from Srinagar

    Explore the scenic town of Gulmarg, located at an altitude of 2,650m. Take a gondola ride to the top of the Apharwat Peak and enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayan Mountains. Visit the nearby Alpather Lake, and enjoy a picnic by the lake. Try your hand at skiing or snowboarding at the Gulmarg Ski Resort. Return to Srinagar for overnight stay.

  7. Day 7: Pari Mahal
    20 minutes (5.7 miles) from Srinagar

    Visit the historic Pari Mahal, a seven-terraced garden located on top of a hill overlooking Srinagar. Learn about the history and culture of Kashmir at the nearby Shankaracharya Temple. Enjoy a shopping spree at the Lal Chowk Market, and pick up souvenirs for your loved ones. Depart for home with unforgettable memories of your Amarnath Yatra trip.
