3-Day Nature Itinerary for Shimoga and Udupi in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Jog Falls
    1.5 hours (42 miles) from Shimoga

    In the morning, visit Jog Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in India. Enjoy a scenic view of the waterfall and take a refreshing bath in the plunge pool. In the afternoon, head to the nearby Linganamakki Dam, which offers breathtaking views of the Sharavathi river and the surrounding hills. In the evening, explore the nearby Sagara town and try some local delicacies.

  2. Day 2: Kudremukh National Park
    3 hours (98 miles) from Jog Falls

    Start your day early and drive to Kudremukh National Park, which is famous for its scenic trekking trails and wildlife. Take a guided trek through the lush green forests and spot some of the rare species of flora and fauna. In the afternoon, visit the Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Museum to learn about the history of mining in the region. In the evening, relax at the nearby Hanuman Gundi Falls and enjoy the beautiful sunset.

  3. Day 3: St. Mary's Island and Malpe Beach
    3 hours (80 miles) from Kudremukh National Park

    Take an early morning ferry to St. Mary's Island, known for its unique hexagonal basaltic rocks and pristine beaches. Spend the morning exploring the island and swimming in the crystal-clear waters. In the afternoon, head to Malpe Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Udupi. Enjoy water sports activities such as jet skiing and parasailing or just relax and soak up the sun. In the evening, visit the nearby Udupi Sri Krishna Matha, a famous temple dedicated to Lord Krishna.
