2-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Ujjain and Indore in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Ujjain
    1 hour 30 minutes (34 miles) from Indore

    Start your day with a visit to the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. Take a dip in the holy waters of the Kshipra River and witness the Bhasma Aarti, an early morning ritual where the deity is adorned with ash. Afterward, head to the Kal Bhairav ​​Temple, dedicated to the fierce form of Lord Shiva, and enjoy the local street food. Spend your afternoon exploring the Ujjain Observatory, one of the oldest observatories in India, built during the 17th century. In the evening, visit the Ram Ghat to witness the beautiful evening aarti ceremony, offering prayers to the holy river.
