3-Day Shoestring Budget Itinerary for Indore in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Lal Bagh Palace
    20 minutes (5.6 km) from Indore Airport

    In the morning, visit the Lal Bagh Palace, a stunning palace built-in 1920 by the Holkar dynasty. This palace has Italian marble columns, a ballroom, and luxurious chandeliers. In the afternoon, check out the nearby Rajwada Palace, an architectural wonder with a mix of Mughal and French styles. You can also shop for traditional handicrafts and textiles in the surrounding streets. In the evening, head to Sarafa Bazar, a famous street food market that starts after 7 pm, offering a variety of local delicacies.

  2. Day 2: Patalpani Waterfall
    1 hour 20 minutes (36 km) from Lal Bagh Palace

    Start your day early and head towards the Patalpani Waterfall, a scenic spot surrounded by lush greenery. The waterfall drops from a height of 150 feet and offers a great view. In the afternoon, visit the Annapurna Temple, a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Annapurna. Explore the temple complex and enjoy the serene atmosphere. In the evening, spend some time at the Pipliyapala Regional Park, a picturesque park with a lake, fountains, and a musical fountain show in the evening.

Recommendations

If you have time, you can consider visiting the Bada Ganpati Temple, a popular Hindu temple with a giant statue of Lord Ganesha, or the Indore White Church, a beautiful church with colonial architecture. You can also take a day trip to Mandu, a historic town known for its forts and palaces.

To maximize your fun, try bargaining while shopping in the local markets, and try different street foods. You can also take a cycling tour to explore the city or take a hot air balloon ride for an aerial view of the city.
