Indore on a Shoestring Budget - 3-Day Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Lal Bagh Palace
    15 minutes (3.5 kilometers) from Indore Junction

    Morning: Built in 1921, Lal Bagh Palace is a beautiful palace-turned-museum that belonged to the Holkar dynasty. The Palace has an extensive collection of artifacts including paintings, sculptures, and stuffed animals.

    Afternoon: Head to Chappan Dukan, a popular street food destination in Indore. Try the famous poha and jalebi.

    Evening: Visit the Rajwada Palace which is located in the heart of the city. The palace is an excellent example of the Maratha architectural style and has beautiful gardens.

  2. Day 2: Sarafa Bazaar and Kanch Mandir
    10 minutes (2.5 kilometers) from Lal Bagh Palace

    Morning: Head to Sarafa Bazaar, which is known for its street food. Try the delicious chaats and samosas.

    Afternoon: Visit Kanch Mandir, also known as the Glass Temple, which is a unique temple made entirely of glass. The temple has intricate glass paintings and sculptures.

    Evening: Take a stroll at the Pipliyapala Regional Park. The park has a lake, musical fountains, and a toy train.

  3. Day 3: Annapurna Temple and Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary
    15 minutes (3.5 kilometers) from Kanch Mandir

    Morning: Visit the Annapurna Temple, which is dedicated to Goddess Annapurna, the Hindu goddess of food. The temple is made of white marble and has beautiful architecture.

    Afternoon: Head to Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary, which is a great place for nature lovers. The sanctuary has a large variety of flora and fauna.

    Evening: End the day at the 56 Dukan area, which is known for its street food and shopping. Try the famous Indori namkeen and shop for local handicrafts.

Consider visiting the Bada Ganpati Temple, which is a popular temple in Indore. You can also take a day trip to the nearby Mandu city and explore its historical monuments. For adventure lovers, there are trekking and camping options available at nearby Pachmarhi and Satpura National Park. Don't forget to try the Indori bhutte ka kees and garadu.
