3-Day Thiruvanamalai Tour

  1. Day 1: Visit Thiruvanamalai Arunachaleswar Temple
    10 minutes (1.3 miles) from Downtown Thiruvanamalai

    In the morning, visit the Thiruvanamalai Arunachaleswar Temple, one of the five Pancha Bootha Sthalas in South India dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple has a history of more than 1000 years and is built in Dravidian architecture. Afternoon, visit Sri Ramana Ashram; established by the spiritual leader Ramana Maharshi. Evening, spend some time at the Skandashramam Cave, where Ramana Maharshi meditated for several years.

  2. Day 2: Trek to Arunachala Hill
    20 minutes (2.0 miles) from Thiruvanamalai Arunachaleswar Temple

    Start the morning with a trek to Arunachala Hill, which is considered a sacred site and symbolizes Lord Shiva in his element of fire. The trek is of moderate difficulty and is around 2.5 hours long. Afternoon, visit the Seshadri Swamigal Ashram, dedicated to the renowned saint Seshadri Swamigal. In the evening, visit the Ramanashramam Bookstore, which has a wide collection of books on spirituality and philosophy.

  3. Day 3: Explore Gingee Fort
    45 minutes (28.0 miles) from Arunachala Hill

    In the morning, go on a road trip to the Gingee Fort, which is located 70 km away from Thiruvanamalai. The fort was built in the 13th century and is also known as the Senji Fort. The fort complex comprises three forts - Rajagiri, Krishnagiri, and Chandrayandurg. Afternoon, visit the Virupaksha Cave, where Ramana Maharshi is believed to have attained enlightenment. In the evening, relax and unwind at the Tiruvannamalai Beach.
