Travelers will need to hire a car or take a bus to reach Kaza from Manali. Local transportation is not required for the rest of the itinerary as most places will be accessible on foot. Keep in mind that road conditions can be challenging, and it is recommended to hire an experienced driver to navigate the terrain. The estimated cost of a car rental is INR 5,000-8,000 per day, and a bus ticket costs around INR 500-1,500.
For travelers with more time, consider adding a day trip to Spiti's neighboring regions such as Dharamshala or Leh. If you have less time, consider shortening the trip by skipping a few stops or combining them into one day. Keep in mind that many of the roads will be closed during winter.
The nearest airport to Spiti Valley is Bhuntar Airport (KUU) located in Kullu, approximately 250 km from Kaza. However, the largest airport in the region is Chandigarh International Airport (IXC), located approximately 522 km from Kaza. Both airports are well-connected to major cities across the country.
