7-Day Adventure Itinerary for Leh Ladakh in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Acclimatize in Leh
    Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport to Leh (5.7 miles, 20 minutes)

    Upon arrival, take the day to get accustomed to the high altitude by resting and drinking plenty of water. In the afternoon, explore the Leh Palace and Shanti Stupa for panoramic views of the city. In the evening, wander through the Leh bazaar for a taste of local cuisine.

  2. Day 2: Nubra Valley
    Leh to Diskit (120 km, 4 hours)

    In the morning, drive to Nubra Valley and cross Khardung La, the world's highest motorable pass. Visit the Diskit Monastery and see the famous Maitreya Buddha statue. In the afternoon, ride a double-humped Bactrian camel in the sand dunes of Hunder. Spend the night in a traditional Ladakhi homestay.

  3. Day 3: Pangong Tso Lake
    Diskit to Pangong Tso Lake (160 km, 5 hours)

    Drive to Pangong Tso Lake, a high-altitude lake known for its ever-changing shades of blue and turquoise. Take a walk along the lake and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Spend the night at a lakeside campsite.

  4. Day 4: Hemis National Park
    Pangong Tso Lake to Hemis National Park (150 km, 5 hours)

    Embark on a wildlife safari in Hemis National Park. Spot snow leopards, Asiatic ibex, and Tibetan antelopes among other wildlife. In the evening, visit the Hemis Monastery, the largest and richest monastery in Ladakh.

  5. Day 5: Khardung La Pass
    Hemis National Park to Leh via Khardung La Pass (140 km, 5 hours)

    Drive back to Leh via Khardung La Pass and enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayas. In the afternoon, visit the Thiksey Monastery and explore the nearby Shey Palace. In the evening, relax with a cup of Ladakhi butter tea.

  6. Day 6: Zanskar River Rafting
    Leh to Zanskar River (160 km, 5 hours)

    Experience the thrill of white-water rafting on the Zanskar River, one of the most challenging rivers in the world. In the afternoon, hike to the ancient Phuktal Monastery, a hidden gem in the Zanskar Valley. Spend the night in a riverside campsite.

  7. Day 7: Explore Leh
    Zanskar River to Leh (230 km, 8 hours)

    Spend the day exploring the markets and backstreets of Leh, picking up souvenirs and trying local delicacies. Visit the Stok Palace Museum for a glimpse into the royal history of Ladakh. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Ladakhi dance performance.
