3-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Chikmagalur (June 2023)

  1. Day 1: Mullayanagiri Peak
    1 hour 30 minutes (28 miles) from Chikmagalur City Center

    Visit the highest peak in Karnataka at 1,930 meters, Mullayanagiri Peak, and enjoy the scenic beauty of the Western Ghats. You can go on a moderate trek of 3 km or an easy trek of 500 meters to reach the peak. The morning trek will be a bit challenging but the view from the top is worth it. After the trek, you can visit nearby attractions like the Seethalayanagiri Temple or the Coffee Museum. In the evening, head back to your hotel for some rest.

  2. Day 2: Hebbe Falls
    1 hour 45 minutes (36 miles) from Chikmagalur City Center

    Start your day early and head to Hebbe Falls, one of the most picturesque waterfalls in Karnataka. You can reach the falls by a jeep ride or a trek through the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary. The morning jeep ride will take you through lush green forests and gushing streams. After reaching the falls, you can take a refreshing dip in the cool water. After lunch, visit the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary and explore the flora and fauna of the Western Ghats. In the evening, return back to your hotel for some rest.

  3. Day 3: Kemmangundi
    1 hour 45 minutes (34 miles) from Chikmagalur City Center

    On your last day, visit Kemmangundi, a hill station known for its scenic beauty and pleasant climate. You can visit the Z Point, a popular viewpoint that offers a panoramic view of the Western Ghats. You can also visit the Kalhatti Falls, Shanti Falls and Hebbe Falls which are in close proximity to Kemmangundi. After lunch, visit the Raj Bhavan, a summer retreat of the former Maharaja of Mysore. In the evening, return back to your hotel with lots of memories to cherish.

You can also consider visiting the Baba Budangiri Hills, Kudremukh National Park, or the Coffee Plantation Tours. If you have more time, you can take a side trip to Belur and Halebidu, famous for their Hoysala architecture. To maximize your fun, you can indulge in some adventure activities like rock climbing, camping, and trekking. Don't forget to try the local cuisine and buy some fresh coffee beans.
