Cultural Immersion in Ujjan

  1. Day 1: Ujjan Fort
    5 minutes (0.6 miles) from Ujjan City Center

    In the morning, visit the Ujjan Fort, an ancient fort built during the reign of the Mughal Empire. The fort is made of red sandstone and has multiple gates and palaces. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Ujjan Museum which houses a collection of sculptures, coins and ancient artifacts. In the evening, attend the light and sound show held inside the fort premises.

  2. Day 2: Kaliadeh Palace
    20 minutes (5.4 miles) from Ujjan Fort

    In the morning, visit the Kaliadeh Palace, which is situated on the banks of the river Shipra. It is a 9th century palace built during the reign of the Gurjara-Pratihara dynasty. In the afternoon, visit the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. In the evening, visit the Ram Ghat, a popular spot for evening aarti on the banks of the Shipra river.

Other local attractions that are worth visiting in Ujjan are the Bhartrihari Caves, Sandipani Ashram and the Harsiddhi Temple. It is also recommended to take a day trip to the nearby city of Indore, which is known for its street food and historical landmarks such as the Lal Bagh Palace and the Rajwada Palace.
