2-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Tirupati Balaji in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Sri Venkateswara Temple
    Located in Tirumala Hill, 23 minutes (10.5 km) from Tirupati

    In the morning, start your day with a visit to the world-famous Sri Venkateswara Temple, also called Tirumala Temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and is considered one of the holiest sites in Hinduism. After the darshan, enjoy a South Indian breakfast at one of the many local restaurants nearby. In the afternoon, head to the nearby Silathoranam, a natural rock formation in the shape of an arch that is said to be millions of years old. In the evening, visit Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, dedicated to Goddess Padmavathi, the consort of Lord Venkateswara.

  2. Day 2: Deer Park and Sri Kapileswara Swamy Temple
    Located in Alipiri, 16 minutes (7.5 km) from Tirupati

    In the morning, visit Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park, also known as Deer Park, which is home to a variety of animals including blackbuck, spotted deer and sambar. In the afternoon, head to Sri Kapileswara Swamy Temple, a Shiva temple located at the base of the Tirumala Hills. The temple architecture is a mix of Tamil and Dravidian style. In the evening, enjoy some shopping at the local bazaars of Tirupati.

Recommendations

Don't miss out on visiting the Chandragiri Fort, located 20 km from Tirupati, which was built in the 11th century and served as the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. You can also take a day trip to the nearby town of Srikalahasti, home to a famous Shiva temple and a silk weaving industry. Make sure to try the famous Tirupati Laddu, a sweet made of gram flour and sugar, which is offered as prasad at the Sri Venkateswara Temple.
