Four-Day Tamil Nadu Motorcycle Riding Itinerary - July 2023

  1. Day 1: Chennai
    Starting Point
    Destination - Mahabalipuram
    Distance - 55 km (1 hour 30 minutes)

    In the morning, explore the vibrant city of Chennai, starting with the beautiful Kapaleeshwarar Temple. In the afternoon, visit the Government Museum and Fort St. George. In the evening, ride to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Mahabalipuram and explore its ancient temples and rock-cut caves.

  2. Day 2: Puducherry
    Starting Point - Mahabalipuram
    Destination - Puducherry
    Distance - 100 km (2 hours)

    Start your day by watching the beautiful sunrise at Mahabalipuram beach and then proceed towards Puducherry. In Puducherry, visit the famous Sri Aurobindo Ashram, which is a spiritual community. Then head to the French Quarter to witness the French colonial architecture, and enjoy the delicious French cuisine.

  3. Day 3: Thanjavur
    Starting Point - Puducherry
    Destination - Thanjavur
    Distance - 175 km (4 hours)

    In the morning, visit the Auroville, an experimental township in Puducherry. Then proceed towards Thanjavur, where you can visit the famous Brihadeeswara Temple, which is an architectural marvel built in the 11th century. In the afternoon, visit the Thanjavur Palace and Art Gallery. In the evening, take a leisurely stroll around the town.

  4. Day 4: Madurai
    Starting Point - Thanjavur
    Destination - Madurai
    Distance - 200 km (5 hours)

    Start your day early to cover the distance to Madurai. Upon arrival, visit the famous Meenakshi Temple, dedicated to Goddess Parvati. In the afternoon, visit the Thirumalai Nayakkar Palace and Gandhi Memorial Museum. In the evening, explore the local markets and enjoy the delicious street food.

Recommendations

Don't miss the opportunity to visit the hill stations of Ooty and Kodaikanal, which are about 7-8 hours from Madurai. For a side trip, visit Rameswaram, which is about 170 km from Madurai. You can also consider taking a boat ride to Pichavaram, which is known for its mangrove forest. To maximize your fun, make sure to carry all the necessary motorcycle gear and safety equipment.
