Start your day at Venice Beach, where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll on the world-famous boardwalk. Take a dip in the ocean or try your hand at surfing, or just people watch. Stop by the iconic Venice Sign for some photo ops. Around noon, head over to Abbot Kinney Boulevard, which is lined with trendy shops, cafes and restaurants. Grab lunch at The Butcher’s Daughter, which offers an excellent selection of vegetarian and vegan fare. After lunch, browse the boutique shops and art galleries. In the evening, make your way to The Venice Whaler Bar & Grill and enjoy a cocktail while watching the sunset over the Pacific Ocean.
Start your day at Santa Monica Pier, where you can ride the Ferris wheel and other amusement park rides, play carnival games or enjoy a meal at the historic Mariasol restaurant. Afterward, take a stroll down the Third Street Promenade, which is home to numerous shops, theaters, and street performers. Grab lunch at True Food Kitchen, which offers a healthy and tasty menu. Spend the afternoon at the beach, playing volleyball or just soaking up the sun. In the evening, head over to Rusty’s Surf Ranch for live music and dancing.
If you have some extra time, consider visiting the Getty Center or the Getty Villa, two world-class museums that offer excellent art collections. You can also take a day trip to Malibu, which is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Southern California.
Try to catch a free concert or movie screening at the Santa Monica Pier during your stay. You can also take a bike ride or a roller-skating session along the beach boardwalk.
