4-Day Itinerary from Mangalore to Kedarnath in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Mangalore to Mysore
    4 hours and 20 minutes (139.2 km) from Mangalore

    In the morning, visit the famous Mangaladevi Temple and then proceed to the Sri Krishna Temple in Udupi. After a traditional South Indian lunch, head to Mysore. In the afternoon, visit the Mysore Palace and take a walk through the beautiful Brindavan Gardens. In the evening, enjoy a cultural show at the Mysore Palace.

  2. Day 2: Mysore to Ooty
    3 hours and 20 minutes (125.6 km) from Mysore

    Start the day with a visit to the Chamundi Hills for a breathtaking view of Mysore city. Then, visit the St. Philomena's Church and the Mysore Zoo. After lunch, drive to the scenic hill station of Ooty. In the evening, take a stroll through the Botanical Gardens and enjoy a cup of locally grown tea.

  3. Day 3: Ooty to Coimbatore
    3 hours and 50 minutes (87.6 km) from Ooty

    Take a heritage train ride on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway to Coonoor and back. After lunch, visit the Doddabetta Peak for a panoramic view of the Nilgiri Mountains. Then, drive to Coimbatore and visit the famous Marudamalai Temple. In the evening, take a walk through the vibrant RS Puram neighbourhood.

  4. Day 4: Coimbatore to Kedarnath
    10 hours and 30 minutes (420 km) from Coimbatore

    Depart from Coimbatore early in the morning and drive to Kedarnath. Upon arrival, visit the Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. Take a dip in the holy Mandakini river and explore the scenic surroundings of the temple. In the evening, attend the evening aarti at the Kedarnath Temple.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting the hill stations of Kodaikanal and Coorg on the way to Ooty and Mysore. You might also want to take a jungle safari in Bandipur National Park or go on a tea plantation tour in Coonoor.
