3-Day Pondicherry Nature Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Paradise Beach
    20 minutes (4.5 km) from Pondicherry City Centre

    Start your day with a visit to Paradise Beach, known for its picturesque landscapes and crystal clear waters. Take a dip or simply relax and enjoy the serene atmosphere. The beach is accessible only by boat, so make sure to catch the first ferry at 9 AM. Spend the morning here, and then head to Auroville for lunch. Auroville is an experimental township with a variety of cafes and restaurants serving delicious organic food. Spend your afternoon exploring the town and its surroundings, and then head back to Pondicherry for a French-inspired dinner at Villa Shanti.

  2. Day 2: Ousteri Lake
    30 minutes (10 km) from Pondicherry City Centre

    Start your day with a visit to Ousteri Lake, a birdwatcher's paradise. The lake is home to several migratory birds and offers a peaceful escape from the city. Rent a boat or take a guided tour to explore the lake and its surroundings. After your visit to the lake, head to the Botanical Garden for lunch.   3. Day 3: Gingee Fort
    2 hours (70 km) from Pondicherry City Centre

    Start your day early and head to Gingee Fort, a majestic fort perched on a hilltop. The fort complex consists of three forts and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Spend the morning exploring the fort and its surroundings, and then head to Mahabalipuram for lunch. Mahabalipuram is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is famous for its rock-cut temples and sculptures. Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Pichavaram Mangrove Forest, which is an hour and a half drive from Pondicherry. You can also take a day trip to the nearby town of Chidambaram, which is home to the famous Nataraja Temple.
