3-Day Itinerary for Madikeri in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Dubare Elephant Camp
    30 minutes (14.5 km) from Madikeri

    Visit the Dubare Elephant Camp in the morning where you can get closer to the gentle giants of the jungle and learn about their daily routine. Enjoy an elephant ride in the river and interact with the trainers who share their experience taking care of the elephants. After lunch, head to Abbey Falls, a popular waterfall in the region, and take a refreshing shower in the cool waters. In the evening, head to Raja's Seat, a well-known sunset point overlooking the valley, to witness a splendid sunset with a cup of tea in hand.

  2. Day 2: Talacauvery and Bhagamandala
    1 hour 15 minutes (39 km) from Madikeri

    Start your day with a visit to Talacauvery, the source of the river Cauvery, and appreciate the serene landscape which is considered sacred by the locals. After that, head to Bhagamandala, a temple town located at the confluence of three rivers, Cauvery, Kannika and Sujyoti. Spend the afternoon exploring the temples and enjoying local cuisine. In the evening, visit the Madikeri Fort which houses a museum showcasing the history and culture of the region.

  3. Day 3: Nisargadhama and Bylakuppe
    1 hour 10 minutes (30 km) from Madikeri

    Start your day early and visit Nisargadhama, an island formed by the river Cauvery, which is home to various species of flora and fauna. Take a walk on the hanging bridge, go boating or indulge in some adventure activities like zip-lining and archery. After that, head to Bylakuppe, a Tibetan settlement with beautiful monasteries that reflect the rich culture and tradition of Tibet. Enjoy lunch at a local Tibetan restaurant and explore the markets selling Tibetan handicrafts. In the evening, head back to Madikeri and spend some time shopping for souvenirs at the local markets.
