Three-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Madikeri in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Talacauvery
    50 minutes (28.8 km) from Madikeri town

    In the morning, head to Talacauvery, the birthplace of River Cauvery which is located at the foothills of Brahmagiri Hills. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the place while taking a dip in the holy water. Afterward, head to Bhagamandala, a sacred confluence of three rivers - Cauvery, Kannike and the underground Sujyoti. In the afternoon, visit the Omkareshwara Temple, an ancient temple with a blend of Indo-Islamic architecture. Spend the evening at Raja's Seat, a beautiful garden with a musical fountain and a stunning view of the sunset.

  2. Day 2: Abbey Falls
    20 minutes (9.8 km) from Madikeri town

    Start the day at Abbey Falls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in South India. Enjoy the scenic view of the water cascading down the rocks and take a dip in the cool water. Next, head to Madikeri Fort, a historical monument built-in 1681, which now houses a museum, a temple and a prison. In the afternoon, visit the Dubare Elephant Camp, where you can interact with and feed the elephants. End the day with a visit to the Nisargadhama Forest, a natural island surrounded by the Kaveri river, where you can enjoy boating, elephant rides and more.

  3. Day 3: Coorg Wildlife Society
    25 minutes (14.6 km) from Madikeri town

    Start the day with a visit to the Coorg Wildlife Society, a rescue and rehabilitation centre for animals. Meet the animals and learn about their rehabilitation process. Next, head to Chelavara Falls, a picturesque waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. In the afternoon, visit the Chiklihole Dam, a perfect spot for a picnic with your family. End the day with a visit to the Tibetian Monastery, a peaceful place where you can learn about Buddhism and admire the beautiful architecture of the monastery.

If you're looking for more adventure, head to Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, a beautiful forest with rare flora and fauna, and a perfect place for trekking. If you have an extra day, you can visit Bylakuppe, the second-largest Tibetian settlement in India, where you can witness the Tibtean culture, art and traditions. You can also take a side trip to Nagarhole National Park, which is home to tigers, elephants, leopards and other wildlife.
