Chikkamagaluru Adventure Trip, June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mullayanagiri
    45 minutes (12 miles) from Chikkamagaluru City

    Morning: Start your day early and head out to Mullayanagiri, the highest peak in Karnataka. The drive to the hilltop from Chikkamagaluru City is a thrilling experience in itself, zigzagging through the beautiful hills. At the peak, take a hike to the summit and enjoy panoramic views of the Western Ghats. You can also visit the ancient temple on the hilltop.
    Afternoon: Head to the nearby Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary for a jungle safari. The sanctuary is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, including tigers, elephants, and leopards. The safari takes around 2-3 hours and is a highlight of the trip.
    Evening: Enjoy a cup of hot coffee at one of the many local coffee plantations. Chikkamagaluru is known for its coffee, and a visit to a plantation is a must-do activity. Learn about the process of coffee-making and taste some of the finest brews in the region.

  2. Day 2: Kudremukh National Park
    2 hours 30 minutes (80 miles) from Chikkamagaluru City

    Morning: Drive down to Kudremukh National Park, which is known for its beautiful landscapes and trekking trails. Enroute, visit the Hanuman Gundi Waterfalls. The falls are a short trek away from the main road and make for a picturesque stopover.
    Afternoon: Explore the national park and take a trek through one of the many trails to soak in the natural beauty. You can also visit the Kudremukh Peak, which is the third-highest peak in Karnataka.
    Evening: Head back to the city and relax at the hotel or explore the local markets for some souvenirs.

Recommendations

Apart from the activities mentioned above, you can also visit the Baba Budangiri Hills or the Hebbe Falls. If you have more time, consider taking a day trip to the historical town of Belur and visit the famous Chennakesava Temple.
