5-Day Adventure Itinerary for Flowr of Valley Uttarakhand in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Trekking to Valley of Flowers National Park
    Starting Point: Joshimath

    In the morning, start your trek to the Valley of Flowers National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This park is only open from June to October, so take advantage of the summer weather. Along the way, enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Once you arrive at the park, spend the afternoon exploring the beautiful flora and fauna. In the evening, rest and relax in Ghangaria village.

  2. Day 2: Hemkund Sahib Trek
    Starting Point: Ghangaria
    Distance: 6 km
    Time: 4-5 hours

    Begin your trek to the Hemkund Sahib, a pilgrimage site for Sikhs and Hindus. The trail is steep, but the stunning views of the glaciers and mountains will make it worth it. Take a dip in the sacred Hemkund Lake and visit the Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara. In the evening, return to Ghangaria for some much-needed rest.

  3. Day 3: Whitewater Rafting on the Alaknanda River
    Starting Point: Joshimath

    Get ready for an adrenaline-filled day of whitewater rafting on the Alaknanda River. This river is known for its thrilling rapids, so be prepared to get soaked! In the evening, return to Joshimath for a good night's sleep.

  4. Day 4: Camping in Sari Village

    Take a break from all the trekking and rafting and spend a relaxing day camping in Sari Village. This small village is located at the base of Deoria Tal, a serene lake surrounded by lush forests. Spend the day hiking, birdwatching, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. At night, sit around the campfire and gaze at the stars.

  5. Day 5: Bungee Jumping in Rishikesh
    Starting Point: Sari Village
    Distance: 200 km
    Time: 6 hours

    End your adventure-filled trip with some bungee jumping in Rishikesh, the adventure capital of India. Jump off a 83-meter high platform and feel the rush of adrenaline as you freefall towards the Ganges River. In the afternoon, visit the Beatles Ashram, an abandoned ashram where the Beatles stayed in the 1960s. In the evening, return to Sari Village for a last night of camping.

Recommendations

If you have any extra time, consider visiting the Badrinath Temple, one of the four Chota Char Dhams (four sacred shrines) in Hinduism. Another great side trip is a visit to the Nanda Devi National Park, a biosphere reserve which is home to a variety of flora and fauna. To maximize your fun, make sure to pack comfortable trekking shoes, a waterproof jacket, and a camera to capture all the stunning views. Lastly, don't forget to try the local cuisine, especially the Garhwali dishes.
