One-day itinerary for Mumbai in July 2023

  1. 9:00AM: Gateway of India
    10 minutes (1.3 miles) from The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel

    A landmark of Mumbai, Gateway of India is an arch monument that was built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Mumbai. From this point, you can take a ferry to the Elephanta Caves.

  2. 10:30AM: Elephanta Caves
    1 hour 30 minutes (6.7 miles) by ferry from Gateway of India

    These ancient caves are carved out of rocks and are an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The main attraction is a 7 meters high statue of Lord Shiva. The caves provide a stunning view of the Mumbai skyline.

  3. 1:00PM: Shree Siddhivinayak Temple
    1 hour 30 minutes (10.5 miles) from Elephanta Caves

    This temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is one of the most popular temples in Mumbai. The temple is believed to fulfill the wishes of its devotees.

  4. 3:00PM: Haji Ali Dargah
    30 minutes (3.5 miles) from Shree Siddhivinayak Temple

    This mosque is located in the middle of the Arabian Sea and is a beautiful example of Indo-Islamic architecture. The mosque is surrounded by water and can be accessed only during low tide.

  5. 5:00PM: Marine Drive
    30 minutes (4.2 miles) from Haji Ali Dargah

    Marine Drive is a long, beautiful promenade along the seafront of Mumbai. Also known as the Queen's Necklace, it is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the sunset. You can also enjoy some street food here.

  6. 7:00PM: Colaba Causeway Market
    10 minutes (1.3 miles) from Marine Drive

    A bustling market that offers a variety of products from clothes to jewelry to souvenirs. The market is a great place to bargain and get some good deals. You can also find some great food options here.

Recommendations

If you have more time, you can visit the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the Crawford Market, and the Nehru Science Centre. You can also take a side trip to the Kanheri Caves or the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. To maximize your fun, try some local street food and take a ride on a local train.
