5-Day Chardham Yatra Adventure Itinerary - July 2023

  1. Day 1: Yamunotri
    3 hours (104 km) from Dehradun Airport

    In the morning, start the journey to Yamunotri, the first Dham. Take a dip in the hot water springs at Janki Chatti. In the afternoon, visit Yamunotri temple and take a holy dip in the Yamuna River. In the evening, spend some peaceful time at Surya Kund.

  2. Day 2: Gangotri
    5 hours (220 km) from Yamunotri

    Start the day with a drive to Gangotri, the second Dham. Visit Gangotri temple and take a dip in the holy Ganges. In the afternoon, trek to Gomukh Glacier, the source of the Ganges River. In the evening, enjoy the scenic beauty and peaceful environment of Gangotri.

  3. Day 3: Kedarnath
    6 hours (219 km) from Gangotri

    Take a helicopter ride to Kedarnath, the third Dham. Visit Kedarnath temple and take blessings of Lord Shiva. In the afternoon, trek to Vasuki Tal, a high altitude lake. In the evening, attend the evening aarti and witness the beauty of Kedarnath.

  4. Day 4: Badrinath
    4 hours (155 km) from Kedarnath

    Start the day with a drive to Badrinath, the fourth Dham. Visit Badrinath temple and take a dip in the hot water springs of Tapt Kund. In the afternoon, visit Mana Village, the last Indian village before Tibet. In the evening, attend the evening aarti at Badrinath temple.

  5. Day 5: Rudraprayag
    5 hours (160 km) from Badrinath

    Start the day with a drive to Rudraprayag, a beautiful town located at the confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers. Visit Koteshwar Mahadev Temple, a sacred temple located inside a cave. In the afternoon, visit the scenic Deoria Tal, a pristine lake surrounded by lush green mountains. In the evening, enjoy the local delicacies of Rudraprayag.

Recommendations

You can consider visiting Hemkund Sahib, a Sikh shrine located near Valley of Flowers. You can also plan a trek to Valley of Flowers, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To maximize your fun, you can try river rafting in Rishikesh.

If you have extra time, you can plan a side trip to Auli, a popular skiing destination. You can also visit the scenic hill station of Mussoorie.

It is recommended to carry comfortable shoes, warm clothes, and raincoats as the weather can be unpredictable in the mountains.
