Discovering Mandya in June 2023

  1. 9:00AM: Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple
    5 minutes (0.7 miles) from Mandya Railway Station

    Visit the famous Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple which is dedicated to Lord Ranganatha, a form of Lord Vishnu. The temple's architecture is a mix of Hoysala and Vijayanagara style which makes it a unique place to visit. Don't forget to take a dip in the temple's pond which is believed to have healing properties!

  2. 11:00AM: Kere Thonnur Lake
    20 minutes (7.5 miles) from Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple

    Kere Thonnur Lake is one of the largest lakes in Karnataka which is surrounded by beautiful paddy fields. You can take a boat ride and enjoy the scenic views of this peaceful place. Don't miss the fish fry and coconut water which are local delicacies served by the lake.

    20 minutes (8.7 miles) from Kere Thonnur Lake

    Gaganachukki Falls is a stunning waterfall situated on the Kaveri River. The views of the waterfall are breathtaking and it's a perfect place to take a dip in the river. Don't forget to carry a change of clothes and a towel!

  5. 5:00PM: Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace
    1 hour (26.8 miles) from Gaganachukki Falls

    Visit Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace which is a beautiful example of Indo-Islamic architecture. The palace has been converted into a museum and houses some of the personal belongings of Tipu Sultan. You can also take a walk in the palace's garden which is a perfect place to relax and unwind.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, you can also visit the nearby Shivasamudram Falls which is another beautiful waterfall situated on the Kaveri River. If you are interested in history, you can visit the Srirangapatna Fort which was the capital of Tipu Sultan's empire. Don't forget to try the local specialities like Mandya Pak and Mysore Pak!
