Cancun City Experiences - 7 Day Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Tulum Archaeological Site
    1 hour 40 minutes (80 miles) from Cancun

    In the morning, explore the well-preserved Mayan ruins of Tulum, with a beautiful view of the Caribbean. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon on the beach and have dinner at one of the seafood restaurants nearby.

  2. Day 2: Cancun Underwater Museum (MUSA)
    20 minutes (10 miles) from Downtown Cancun

  3. Day 3: Cozumel Island
    1 hour 30 minutes (54 miles) from Cancun by ferry

    Take the ferry to Cozumel Island early in the morning and go snorkeling or scuba diving in the clear waters of Palancar Reef. Visit the San Gervasio Mayan Ruins in the afternoon and have dinner at one of the many local seafood restaurants.

  4. Day 4: Cancun Hotel Zone Beaches
    30 minutes (10 miles) from Downtown Cancun

    Spend the day on one of the many beautiful beaches in the Cancun Hotel Zone, such as Playa Delfines or Playa Tortugas. Have lunch at one of the beachside restaurants and take a sunset walk on the sand.

  5. Day 5: Xcaret Park
    1 hour 10 minutes (47 miles) from Cancun

    Visit Xcaret Park and explore its natural wonders, such as the underground rivers and the Coral Reef Aquarium. Enjoy the evening show, which includes Mexican music and dance performances.

  6. Day 6: Isla Mujeres Island
    30 minutes (8 miles) from Downtown Cancun

    Take a ferry to Isla Mujeres Island and rent a golf cart to explore the island. Go snorkeling or relax on the beach. Visit the Tortugranja Turtle Farm in the afternoon and have dinner at one of the local seafood restaurants.

  7. Day 7: Chichen Itza Archaeological Site
    2 hours 30 minutes (121 miles) from Cancun

    Take a day trip to the famous Chichen Itza Archaeological Site and marvel at the impressive architecture of the Mayan civilization. Visit the nearby Cenote Ik Kil for a refreshing swim in the afternoon. Have dinner at one of the many local restaurants on the way back.

Recommendations

Consider visiting the Cancun Interactive Museum and the El Rey Archaeological Site, which are both located in the Hotel Zone. For a side trip, visit the nearby Puerto Morelos and go snorkeling in its beautiful reef.

To maximize your fun, book activities in advance and plan for early mornings to avoid the crowds and the heat. Be sure to try the local street food and the traditional Mexican drinks, such as tequila, mezcal, and horchata.
