Banaras: Cultural Immersion Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Assi Ghat
    10 minutes (2.7 km) from the hotel

    In the morning, visit Assi Ghat, one of the most popular ghats in Banaras and the largest in terms of area. You can observe the morning rituals and bathe in the holy water. Afternoon is the perfect time to take a stroll on the ghats and witness the Ganga Aarti ritual, which takes place every day at 6 PM. You can enjoy a boat ride in the evening and admire the beautiful view of the ghats and the aarti ceremony.

  2. Day 2: Sarnath
    30 minutes (10 km) from Assi Ghat

    Visit Sarnath, the place where Buddha delivered his first sermon after attaining enlightenment. In the morning, explore the Sarnath Archaeological Museum, which houses a collection of Buddhist art and relics. In the afternoon, visit the Dhamek Stupa, which is the most remarkable structure in Sarnath and is said to mark the spot where Buddha preached his first sermon. You can also visit the Mulagandha Kuti Vihar and Japanese Temple in the evening.

  3. Day 3: Kashi Vishwanath Temple
    20 minutes (7.9 km) from Sarnath

    Visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple, also known as the Golden Temple, which is one of the most famous Hindu temples in India dedicated to Lord Shiva. In the morning, offer prayers and witness the unique rituals of the temple. Afternoon is the perfect time to explore the nearby markets and try the delicious Banarasi street food. In the evening, visit the Manikarnika Ghat, one of the oldest and most sacred ghats in Banaras for a unique cultural experience.

  4. Day 4: Ramnagar Fort
    30 minutes (14 km) from Kashi Vishwanath Temple

    Visit Ramnagar Fort, the ancestral home of the Maharaja of Banaras, which is situated on the opposite bank of the Ganges River. In the morning, explore the fort and its museum, which houses a collection of vintage cars, old guns, swords, and antique clocks. In the afternoon, attend the Ramnagar Ramlila, which is one of the oldest and grandest Ramlilas in India and is held in the fort premises during Dussehra. In the evening, enjoy a boat ride on the Ganges River and witness the beautiful view of the fort and the sunset.

You can take a side trip to Chunar Fort, which is located 40 km from Banaras. It is a magnificent fort built by the King of Banaras and offers a panoramic view of the Ganges river.
