4-Day Kerala Itinerary for Shoestring Budget in October 2023

  1. Day 1: Kochi
    30 minutes (22 km) from Cochin International Airport

    In the morning, visit Fort Kochi to see the Chinese fishing nets, Fort Kochi beach, and St. Francis Church. Take a walk around the old Jewish Quarter, Mattancherry Palace and the Dutch Cemetery in the afternoon. In the evening, watch a traditional Kathakali dance performance at the Kerala Kathakali Centre.

  2. Day 2: Munnar
    4 hours 30 minutes (130 km) from Kochi

    Start early in the morning and explore the tea plantations and breathtaking views of Munnar. Visit the Tea Museum, Echo Point and the Mattupetty Dam. In the afternoon, trek to the Top Station to witness the stunning view of the Western Ghats. End your day with a visit to the beautiful Kundala Lake.

  3. Day 3: Thekkady
    3 hours 30 minutes (92 km) from Munnar

    In the morning, visit the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary to see the endangered species of flora and fauna. Take a boat ride on Periyar Lake and spot some wild animals. In the afternoon, visit the Mangla Devi Temple and the Kadathanadan Kalari Centre to witness the martial arts performance. End your day by strolling around the local market to buy some souvenirs and spices.

  4. Day 4: Alleppey
    3 hours 30 minutes (138 km) from Thekkady

    Start your day with a relaxing backwater cruise on a houseboat and witness the greenery, paddy fields, and coconut trees. Recommendations

If you have some extra time, visit the Athirapally Waterfalls on the way to Munnar. You can also visit the Varkala Beach, Kovalam Beach, and the Backwaters of Kollam.
