Honeymoon Itinerary: Mulshi, Lonavla, Matheran in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Mulshi Dam
    2 hours (65 miles) from Mumbai Airport

    Begin your honeymoon with a serene view of the Mulshi Dam in the morning. Take a nature walk along the banks of the Mulshi Lake to experience the lush greenery of the Sahyadri mountains. In the afternoon, try some adventure activities such as zip-lining or kayaking. In the evening, enjoy a romantic sunset boat ride on the calm waters of the lake.

  2. Day 2: Lonavla and Khandala
    1 hour 30 minutes (43 miles) from Mulshi Dam

    Drive through the winding roads of the Western Ghats to reach the hill stations of Lonavla and Khandala. Start your morning with a visit to the Bhushi Dam and the Tiger Point. In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic view of the Kune Falls and the Visapur Fort. In the evening, take a stroll through the Lonavla market and indulge in some local food.

  3. Day 3: Matheran

  4. Day 4: Lonavla and Khandala

    Revisit Lonavla and Khandala to explore the places you missed earlier. Visit the Rajmachi Point and the Ryewood Park in Lonavla. In Khandala, visit the Shingroba Temple and the Amrutanjan Point. In the evening, relax and rejuvenate at one of the many spas in the area.

  5. Day 5: Karla and Bhaja Caves
    1 hour (20 miles) from Lonavla and Khandala

    End your honeymoon with a visit to the ancient Karla and Bhaja Caves, located near Lonavla. These Buddhist rock-cut caves date back to the 2nd century BC and are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take a guided tour of the caves and learn about the history and significance of the art and architecture. In the evening, drive back to Mumbai.

Recommendations

If you have some extra time, consider visiting the Rajmachi Fort, the Pavana Lake, and the Lohagad Fort. You can also take a day trip to Pune, which is known for its historical landmarks and cultural heritage. Make sure to sample some of the local delicacies such as Vada Pav, Misal Pav, and Bhakri. To maximize your fun, try some adventure activities such as paragliding, trekking, and camping. Lastly, if you're a Bollywood fan, make sure to visit the Film City in Mumbai.
