5-Day Ladakh Motorcycle Riding Itinerary for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Leh Palace
    15 minutes (1.8 miles) from Leh Airport

    In the morning, explore the nine-story Leh Palace that offers stunning views of the valley. For lunch, try the traditional Ladakhi dish "Thukpa" at the nearby Gesmo Restaurant. Afternoon, visit the Shey Monastery, located 20 minutes (4.5 miles) from Leh Palace. In the evening, head to the Shanti Stupa for a breathtaking sunset view.

  2. Day 2: Pangong Tso Lake
    5 hours (135 miles) from Leh Palace

    Start early for a scenic 5-hour ride to Pangong Tso Lake, passing through the beautiful Chang La Pass at an altitude of 17,590 feet. Spend the day enjoying the serene blue waters of the lake and the surrounding mountains. Stay overnight at one of the lakeside camps.

  3. Day 3: Nubra Valley
    5 hours (120 miles) from Pangong Tso Lake

    After breakfast, ride to Nubra Valley, a high-altitude cold desert with sand dunes. Visit the Diskit Monastery and the famous 32-meter statue of Maitreya Buddha, located on a hilltop. In the afternoon, take a camel ride on the sand dunes and watch the sunset. Overnight stay in a traditional Ladakhi homestay.

  4. Day 4: Magnetic Hill
    5 hours (120 miles) from Nubra Valley

    Start early for a thrilling ride to Magnetic Hill, located 30 km from Leh. Experience the unique phenomenon where the car appears to move uphill without any power. Visit the nearby Gurudwara Pathar Sahib and the Hall of Fame museum dedicated to the Indian Army. In the afternoon, relax at the nearby Sangam point where the Zanskar and Indus rivers meet. Overnight stay in Leh.

  5. Day 5: Khardung La Pass
    2 hours (25 miles) from Leh City Center

    Start early for the world's highest motorable road, the Khardung La Pass, located 40 km from Leh. Enjoy the stunning views of the Himalayas and take some memorable photographs. Return to Leh for lunch and explore the local markets for souvenirs. In the evening, visit the Stok Palace and Museum. Overnight stay in Leh.

Recommendations

Do not miss out on the Hemis National Park, home to the rare snow leopard and other wildlife. Consider taking an early morning hot air balloon ride over the Himalayas for a bird's eye view. You can also take a day trip to the Alchi Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in Ladakh, or visit the Kargil War Memorial to pay your respects to the martyrs.
