A Day in Alappuzha - June 2023

  1. 9:00AM: Alappuzha Beach
    5 minutes (1.1 km) from Alappuzha Railway Station

    Start your day soaking in the sunrise at the famous Alappuzha Beach. Take a peaceful walk along the shore and enjoy the scenic view of the Arabian Sea. Feel free to take a swim or just sit back and relax. There are plenty of food vendors serving fresh seafood and local delicacies.

  2. 10:30AM: Nehru Trophy Boat Race Finishing Point
    10 minutes (3.2 km) from Alappuzha Beach

    The Nehru Trophy Boat Race is one of the most popular events in Alappuzha. If you're visiting in August, you can witness the excitement of this annual boat race. However, if you're here in June, you can still visit the finishing point and see the beautiful houseboats and backwaters. Take a leisurely boat ride on the backwaters and enjoy the serene environment.

  3. 12:30PM: Vembanad Lake
    20 minutes (7.8 km) from Nehru Trophy Boat Race Finishing Point

    Vembanad Lake is the longest lake in India and a must-visit destination in Alappuzha. Take a houseboat ride on the lake and enjoy the scenic view of the backwaters. You can even choose to stay overnight in a houseboat and enjoy the local cuisine. Don't forget to take a camera to capture the beautiful moments.

  4. 3:30PM: Krishnapuram Palace
    45 minutes (23.6 km) from Vembanad Lake

    Visit the Krishnapuram Palace, built in 18th century, and admire the beautiful architecture and historical artifacts. The palace showcases the traditional Kerala style of architecture with gabled roofs, narrow corridors, and dormer windows. You can also see the largest mural painting in Kerala, the Gajendra Moksham.

  5. 5:30PM: Pathiramanal Island
    30 minutes (14.3 km) from Krishnapuram Palace

    End your day on the serene Pathiramanal Island, an uninhabited island in the middle of Vembanad Lake. Enjoy the beautiful sunset and the peaceful environment. You can even take a boat ride to the island and enjoy the view of the backwaters. Don't forget to carry some snacks and water, as there are no shops or restaurants on the island.
