Bangalore to Agumbe to Chikmagalur Motorcycle Riding Itinerary - July 2023

  1. Day 1: Agumbe Rainforest Research Station
    8 hours (215 km) from Bangalore

    Start your motorcycle adventure with a visit to the Agumbe Rainforest Research Station, which is operated by the Bombay Natural History Society. The research station is located in the middle of the rainforest and is home to a variety of flora and fauna. In the morning, take a guided nature walk to explore the rainforest and spot some of the wildlife. In the afternoon, head to the research station to learn about ongoing research projects and watch the scientists at work. In the evening, enjoy a serene sunset from the top of the nearby Kundadri Hill.

  2. Day 2: Sirimane Falls and Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary
    2 hours (62 km) from Agumbe

    Start your day with a ride to Sirimane Falls. After taking in the stunning waterfall, ride to the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary. Take a jeep safari to explore the diverse wildlife in the park, including elephants, tigers, leopards, and sloth bears. In the afternoon, visit the historic temples located within the sanctuary’s premises. In the evening, head back to Agumbe for a delicious dinner at one of the local restaurants.

  3. Day 3: Mullayanagiri and Baba Budangiri
    4 hours (130 km) from Agumbe to Chikmagalur

    Start your day early with a ride to Mullayanagiri, which is the highest peak in Karnataka. Enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. From there, ride to Baba Budangiri, which is known for its coffee plantations and the Baba Budan Giri Dargah. In the afternoon, visit the ancient temple of Sri Veeranarayana and take a dip in the natural hot water springs of Sitalayyanagiri. In the evening, enjoy a dinner at one of the local restaurants in Chikmagalur.

Recommendations:

Make sure to pack plenty of sunscreen and insect repellent for your rides. If you have some extra time, consider taking a detour to the Kudremukh National Park or the Belur and Halebidu temples. Don't forget to try some of the local coffee and cuisine.
