3-Day Jaisalmer Itinerary in July 2024

  1. Day 1: Jaisalmer Fort
    10 minutes (2.3 km) from Jaisalmer Airport

    In the morning, explore the Jaisalmer Fort which is also known as Sonar Quila or the Golden Fort. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is made of yellow sandstone. The fort has several Jain temples, palaces and havelis with intricate carvings and designs. In the afternoon, visit Patwa ki Haveli, a cluster of 5 havelis, which is famous for its architecture and exquisite mirror work. In the evening, enjoy a camel ride at Sam Sand Dunes and witness the magnificent sunset over the Thar Desert.

  2. Day 2: Gadisar Lake
    30 minutes (5.2 km) from Jaisalmer Fort

    In the morning, visit Gadisar Lake, an artificial lake built by Maharaja Gadsi Singh in the 14th century. It was built with the purpose of providing water to the city and is now a popular tourist spot. You can take a boat ride or just sit by the lake and enjoy the serene surroundings. In the afternoon, visit Kuldhara, an abandoned village which is said to be cursed. The village is in ruins and it is believed that the villagers left the place overnight due to some mysterious reasons. In the evening, attend a cultural program at the Desert Cultural Centre and Museum.

  3. Day 3: Bada Bagh
    20 minutes (6.3 km) from Gadisar Lake

    In the morning, visit Bada Bagh, a garden complex with cenotaphs of the royal family. The garden is famous for its calm and peaceful surroundings. In the afternoon, visit the Thar Heritage Museum, which showcases the culture and traditions of the Thar Desert. In the evening, enjoy a Rajasthani thali at one of the local restaurants.
