Shoestring Budget Goa Itinerary for July 2023

  1. Day 1: Fort Aguada and its Lighthouse
    30 minutes (10 miles) from Goa International Airport

    Fort Aguada and its Lighthouse are located on Sinquerim Beach and were built by the Portuguese in the 17th century. Enjoy the panoramic view of the Arabian Sea from the lighthouse. Visit the fort and explore its history. Later, head to Calangute Beach, a few kilometers away, for some sun, sand and sea. In the evening, visit the Saturday Night Market in Arpora for some souvenirs and local food.

  2. Day 2: Old Goa Churches and Panjim Market
    30 minutes (10 miles) from Calangute Beach

    Visit the Bom Jesus Basilica and Tomb of St. Francis Xavier, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites, to get a glimpse of the Portuguese influence on Goa. Head to the nearby Se Cathedral, one of the largest churches in Asia, and then to the Church of St. Cajetan, which resembles the St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. In the afternoon, visit the bustling Panjim Market for local shopping. In the evening, take a sunset cruise on the Mandovi River.

  3. Day 3: Dudhsagar Waterfall and Spice Plantation Tour
    2 hours (50 miles) from Panjim Market

    Visit the majestic Dudhsagar Waterfall, surrounded by lush greenery, where milky white water cascades down from a height of 310 meters. After the waterfall, head to a spice plantation tour to learn about the different spices and herbs used in Goan cuisine. Enjoy a traditional Goan lunch. In the evening, head to Baga Beach for some delicious seafood and local beer.

  5. Day 5: Palolem Beach and Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary
    2 hours (40 miles) from Baga Beach

    Visit Palolem Beach, known for its crescent-shaped stretch of white sand. Relax on the beach or take a boat ride to spot dolphins. Later, head to Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary, home to a variety of flora and fauna including deer, monkeys, and birds. Enjoy nature walks and bird watching. In the evening, head to the nearby Galgibaga Beach, popular for its serene surroundings and turtle nesting sites.
