Explore Matheran in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Alexander Point
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Matheran Railway Station

    Alexander Point is a popular tourist destination situated at the end of Madhavji Road. It offers exceptional views of Garbut Point, Chowk Point and the valley between them. You can enjoy the beautiful sunrise and sunset here. In the morning, you can trek to the point and enjoy the scenic beauty and cool breeze. Afternoon can be spent in the famous Matheran Bazaar, where you can buy leather items, Kolhapuri chappals, and local handicrafts. In the evening, visit the Charlotte Lake and enjoy the serene beauty of the lake. You can also opt for a horse ride around the lake, but keep in mind to bargain for good rates.

  2. Day 2: Louisa Point and Panorama Point
    15 minutes (3 km) from Alexander Point

    Louisa Point is a must-visit point in Matheran. It is located on a plateau and offers a panoramic view of the Prabal Fort and Vishalgad Fort. After visiting Louisa Point, you can proceed towards Panorama Point, which is located nearby. It is the highest point in Matheran and offers a stunning view of the surrounding hills and valleys. In the morning, you can trek to Louisa Point and then proceed to Panorama Point. Afternoon can be spent exploring the local markets and cafes. In the evening, visit the Echo Point, where the echo of your voice can be heard.

  3. Day 3: Charlotte Lake and Pisharnath Temple
    10 minutes (2.4 km) from Panorama Point

    Charlotte Lake is a beautiful and serene place to relax and unwind. You can take a walk around the lake or opt for a boat ride. The Pisharnath Temple, located near Charlotte Lake, is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is a popular pilgrimage site. In the evening, visit the Paymaster Park, which is a popular picnic spot in Matheran.
