3-Day Madikeri Itinerary for Nature Lovers in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Abbey Falls
    20 minutes (5.6 km) from Madikeri town

    In the morning, head out to Abbey Falls, a picturesque waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. The walk to the falls from the parking lot is about 500 meters through a coffee plantation. Spend some time taking in the beauty of the falls and the surrounding area. Afternoon, head to Raja's Seat, a popular tourist spot with a beautiful garden and stunning views of the mountains. In the evening, catch the sound and light show at Madikeri Fort, which narrates the history of the region.

  2. Day 2: Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour 20 minutes (44.9 km) from Madikeri town

    Start your day early and head to Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, known for its dense forests and diverse flora and fauna. Embark on a guided trek and get a chance to spot some rare species of animals and birds. In the afternoon, visit the Irupu Falls, located inside the sanctuary. Take a dip in the cool waters and enjoy a picnic lunch. In the evening, head back to Madikeri and explore the local market for some souvenirs.

  3. Day 3: Mandalpatti
    45 minutes (20.5 km) from Madikeri town

    On your last day, head to Mandalpatti, a beautiful viewpoint that offers panoramic views of the Western Ghats. The drive up the mountain is bumpy, but the views from the top are worth it. Spend some time taking in the scenery and enjoy a picnic lunch. Afternoon, visit the Omkareshwara Temple, a beautiful blend of Islamic and Gothic architecture. In the evening, relax and unwind at one of the local cafes and enjoy some delicious Coorgi cuisine.

For a unique experience, consider visiting a coffee plantation and learn about the process of coffee making. You can also go for a guided bird watching tour at the Dubare Elephant Camp or try river rafting at the Barapole River. If you have extra time, consider taking a trip to the beautiful Talacauvery, the source of River Cauvery, or the Namdroling Monastery, the largest teaching center of Tibetan Buddhism in the world.
