2-Day Itinerary for Pondicherry in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Aurobindo Ashram
10 minutes (2.3 km) from Pondicherry Museum

In the morning, visit the Promenade Beach, a scenic beachfront boulevard that stretches for 1.2 km. Enjoy a leisurely walk, take some pictures, and admire the view of the Bay of Bengal. In the afternoon, have lunch at one of the seaside restaurants and try some seafood. In the evening, take a stroll to the lighthouse, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city.

  3. Day 3: Sri Aurobindo Handmade Paper Factory

In the evening, have dinner at any of the local restaurants and try the traditional Tamil cuisine.

Recommendations

You may also want to consider visiting the Matrimandir, a golden spherical structure that serves as the main attraction of the Auroville community. However, advance booking is required, and the guided tour takes approximately 2 hours. Another option is to take a day trip to Mahabalipuram, a UNESCO World Heritage site that features ancient temples and rock carvings.

To maximize your fun, try renting a bicycle or a scooter to explore the city at your own pace. You can also attend a yoga or meditation class at one of the local studios, such as Rishi Ayurveda and Yoga or Bodhi Yoga Center.
