Exploring Dwaraka and Somnath

  1. Day 1: Dwaraka Beach
    15 minutes (3.5 km) from Dwaraka Railway Station

    Start your trip by visiting Dwaraka Beach. Take a morning stroll along the beach while enjoying the cool breeze and the sound of waves. Afternoon, head towards the Dwarkadhish Temple, one of the four dhams of Hindu religion. In the evening, visit Rukmini Devi Temple, a temple dedicated to the wife of Lord Krishna.

  2. Day 2: Bet Dwarka
    30 minutes (30 km) from Dwaraka Beach

    Take a morning ferry ride to Bet Dwarka, a small island in the Arabian Sea. Visit the famous Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. In the afternoon, enjoy a picnic on the sandy beaches of Bet Dwarka. In the evening, visit the Gomti Ghat and take a holy dip in the river Gomti.

  3. Day 3: Porbandar
    2 hours (110 km) from Bet Dwarka

    Visit Porbandar, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi. In the morning, visit Kirti Mandir, the ancestral house of Mahatma Gandhi which has now been converted into a museum. Afternoon, visit the Sudama Temple dedicated to Lord Krishna's best friend Sudama. In the evening, take a walk along Porbandar beach and enjoy the sunset.

  4. Day 4: Somnath Temple
    5 hours (235 km) from Porbandar

    Visit the Somnath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. In the morning, attend the aarti at the temple. Afternoon, visit the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of three rivers, Hiranya, Kapila and Saraswati. The evening light and sound show at Somnath temple is a must-watch.

  5. Day 5: Junagadh
    2.5 hours (100 km) from Somnath Temple

    Visit Junagadh, a city rich in history and culture. In the morning, visit the famous Uparkot Fort and the Mahabat Maqbara, a magnificent tomb of Nawab Mahabat Khan II. In the afternoon, visit the Girnar Hill, a holy hill and a popular site for pilgrims. In the evening, visit the Sakkarbaug Zoological Garden, a popular zoo in Junagadh.

Recommendations

If you have time, visit the Beyt Sivapur, a small town famous for its seafood and temples. You can also explore the marine park located near the Dwarka Beach. If you are interested in wildlife, visit the Gir National Park, home to the Asiatic lion.
