7-Day Nagaland Adventure Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Explore Kohima
    30 minutes (19.5 km) from Dimapur Airport

    Visit Kohima War Cemetery, Nagaland State Museum and experience local Naga cuisine at some of the popular cafes/restaurants in Kohima.

  2. Day 2: Trek to Dzukou Valley
    2 hours 20 minutes (70 km) from Kohima

    Begin your day with a 3-4 hour trek to Dzukou Valley which is also known as the Valley of Flowers. Spend the evening in a camping tent and stargaze.

  3. Day 3: Japfu Peak Trek
    1 hour 30 minutes (12 km) from Kohima

    Begin your day with a 4-5 hour trek to Japfu Peak. The trek is best enjoyed from June to September when the rhododendrons are in full bloom. Visit Khonoma village to learn about the Naga culture and interact with the locals.

  4. Day 4: Kachari Ruins and Triple Falls
    1 hour 40 minutes (63 km) from Kohima

    Begin your day by visiting the historic Kachari Ruins and then head to Triple Falls to enjoy the sight of a waterfall which cascades down in three steps.

  5. Day 5: Mokokchung and Longkhum Village
    5 hours 30 minutes (180 km) from Kohima

    Visit Mokokchung, one of the oldest and largest towns in Nagaland. Visit Longkhum village to witness traditional wooden carvings and learn about the Ao Naga tribe.

  6. Day 6: Tuophema Village and Kohima Market
    50 minutes (41 km) from Kohima

    Visit Tuophema Village and experience the Naga culture by staying in a traditionally designed house. In the evening, head to Kohima Market and shop for traditional Naga shawls, handicrafts and jewellery.

  7. Day 7: Trek to Puliebadze Peak
    30 minutes (10 km) from Kohima

    Begin your day by trekking to Puliebadze Peak. The peak is a part of the Naga Heritage Village and is known for its scenic views. End your day with a visit to the Nagaland Zoological Park.

Recommendations

Visit the Hornbill Festival, the largest cultural festival of Nagaland, if your travel dates coincide. Also consider visiting the nearby state of Manipur to visit the Loktak Lake.
