Kodagu Family Friendly Itinerary for December 2023

  1. Day 1: Dubare Elephant Camp
    30 minutes (12.7 km) from Kodagu

    In the morning, visit the Dubare Elephant Camp and get up close and personal with the gentle giants. Watch them being bathed and fed by the mahouts and even go for an elephant ride. After lunch, head to Abbey Falls, a stunning waterfall amidst coffee plantations. Take a short hike to reach the falls and enjoy the cool mist on your face. In the evening, visit the Raja's Seat, a picturesque garden with stunning views of the surrounding hills.

  2. Day 2: Coorg Wildlife Society
    1 hour 10 minutes (44.7 km) from Dubare Elephant Camp

    Spend the morning at the Coorg Wildlife Society, a rescue and rehabilitation centre for animals. You'll get to see a variety of animals, including tigers, leopards, bears, and elephants, up close. After lunch, head to the Madikeri Fort, a historic fort with a museum showcasing the history of Kodagu. In the evening, visit the Omkareshwara Temple, a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

  3. Day 3: Talacauvery and Bhagamandala
    1 hour 20 minutes (47.3 km) from Coorg Wildlife Society

    Start your day with a visit to Talacauvery, the birthplace of the sacred river Cauvery. Take a dip in the holy waters and offer your prayers at the temple. Next, head to Bhagamandala, where Cauvery meets two other rivers, Kannike and Sujyoti. Visit the Bhagandeshwara Temple and enjoy the serene surroundings. After lunch, visit the Dubare Forest Reserve and go on a nature walk to spot some exotic birds. End your day with a peaceful boat ride on the River Cauvery.
