  1. Day 1: Shillong

In the afternoon, visit the Assam State Zoo and Botanical Garden, which is home to a wide variety of animals and plants. Wind up your day by taking a sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra River, and enjoy the stunning views of the city.

  5. Day 5: Guwahati
    Starting Point

    Begin your day by visiting the Umananda Temple, located on a small island in the Brahmaputra River. Afterward, head to the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to the rare one-horned rhinoceros. Take a jeep safari through the sanctuary, and enjoy spotting the wildlife. In the evening, head to the Guwahati Planetarium, and enjoy the various shows on astronomy and space.

  6. Day 6: Guwahati
    30 minutes (13 km) from the Guwahati Planetarium

    Begin your day by visiting the Navagraha Temple, which is dedicated to the nine celestial bodies of Hindu mythology. Next, head to the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, which is a cultural institution dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the culture of Assam. In the afternoon, head to the Fancy Bazaar, one of the oldest markets in Guwahati, and enjoy shopping for souvenirs and local handicrafts.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting the Umiam Lake, located just 15 km from Shillong. The lake offers various water sports activities, and is a popular picnic spot. Another great side trip is the Nameri National Park, located 200 km from Guwahati, which is home to various species of flora and fauna.
