3-Day Nature Itinerary for Wayanad 900 Kandi in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    1 hour 13 minutes (21.5 miles) from Kozhikode

    Start your day early and take a hike up to Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. The trek is challenging but rewarding with breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and a heart-shaped lake. Afternoon head to Pookode Lake, a serene and picturesque freshwater lake surrounded by lush green forests. Take a paddleboat or rowboat ride and enjoy the tranquillity of the lake. In the evening visit the Edakkal Caves, an archaeological wonder with ancient inscriptions and cave paintings dating back to the Neolithic era.

  2. Day 2: Banasura Sagar Dam

    Start your day at the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earthen dam in India. Take a walk along the dam and enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and the reservoir.   3. Day 3: Kuruva Island

    Start your day by visiting the Kuruva Island, a unique and pristine river island formed by the Kabini River. Take a trek through the forest and enjoy the natural beauty of the island. Afternoon visit the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, home to a variety of flora and fauna including elephants, tigers, leopards, and deer. Take a jeep safari and spot some of the wildlife in their natural habitat. In the evening visit the Chain Tree, a popular tourist spot with a mythological history and a fascinating story behind it.
