3-Day Budget Itinerary for Goa in January 2024

  1. Day 1: Anjuna Flea Market
20 minutes (7.8 km) from Goa International Airport

Start off your trip with a visit to Anjuna Flea Market. This market is only open on Wednesdays and is the perfect place to pick up souvenirs and unique gifts for loved ones back home. The market is also a great place to try local street food. Spend the morning exploring the stalls and bargaining for the best prices. In the afternoon, head to Anjuna Beach, which is just a short distance away. Relax on the beach, take a swim, or rent a scooter to explore the surrounding area. In the evening, head to Curlies Beach Shack for some drinks and live music.

  2. Day 2: Dudhsagar Falls
2 hours 30 minutes (82.4 km) from Anjuna Beach

Today, take a day trip to Dudhsagar Falls. This waterfall is one of the most popular attractions in Goa and is located in the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park. The falls are at their most impressive during the monsoon season, but they are still worth seeing in January. Take a dip in the refreshing water and enjoy the stunning views. In the afternoon, head back to your hotel for some rest and relaxation. In the evening, head to Tito's Lane in Baga for some dinner and drinks.

  3. Day 3: Old Goa and Panaji
30 minutes (13 km) from Baga Beach

On your final day in Goa, explore the historical side of the state. Start the day in Old Goa, which was once the capital of Portuguese India. Visit the Basilica of Bom Jesus, which houses the remains of St. Francis Xavier, and the Se Cathedral, which is one of the largest churches in Asia. In the afternoon, head to Panaji, the current capital of Goa. Take a stroll through the Latin Quarter, which is filled with colourful houses and quaint cafes. End the day with a sunset cruise on the Mandovi River.

Recommendations

If you have some extra time, consider taking a day trip to the nearby state of Maharashtra to visit the Ajanta and Ellora Caves. You can also take a scenic drive down the Konkan coast to explore the small fishing villages and secluded beaches. To maximize your fun, try some adventure sports like parasailing, jet skiing, or bungee jumping. Finally, don't forget to try some of the local cuisine, including seafood dishes like fish curry and prawn vindaloo.
