Two-day Nature Itinerary in Chikkamangalor in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Mullayanagiri
    1 hour 30 minutes (29.6 miles) from Chikkamangalor

    Chikkamangalor is known as the coffee capital of Karnataka, and what better way to start your day than by visiting the highest peak in the state, Mullayanagiri. At 1,930 meters above sea level, it offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills and valleys. A trek to the summit during sunrise is a must-see experience. Afterward, head to the Seethalayanagiri Temple, located on the hill's other side. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and provides a beautiful panoramic view of the Western Ghats. In the evening, visit the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, home to several endangered species and a variety of flora and fauna.

  2. Day 2: Kudremukh National Park
    2 hours 30 minutes (59.1 miles) from Mullayanagiri

    After breakfast, head to the Kudremukh National Park. The park is known for its natural beauty and rich biodiversity. It is home to several species of wild animals, including the tiger, leopard, and elephant. The park is also famous for its trekking trails and scenic views. Go on a guided trek where you can experience the picturesque waterfalls, grassy slopes, and dense forests filled with rare flora and fauna. In the evening, visit the Hanuman Gundi Falls, a stunning waterfall located inside the national park.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Hebbe Falls, which is a two-hour drive from Mullayanagiri. The falls are situated in a beautiful natural setting, surrounded by dense forests and coffee plantations. Alternatively, you can also visit the Z Point, a popular trekking spot that offers stunning views of the sunset. If you are looking for a side trip, consider visiting the nearby town of Sringeri, which is famous for its ancient temple dedicated to the Hindu god, Lord Shiva.
