7-Day Itinerary for Varanasi Haridwar Yamunotri Gangothri Kedarnath Badrinath

  1. Day 1: Varanasi
    20 minutes (5.5 km) from Varanasi Airport

    In the morning, take a boat ride on the Ganges River to see the famous ghats and witness the morning rituals. Visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, one of the most famous temples in India. In the afternoon, explore the narrow lanes of the old city and shop for local handicrafts. At night, attend the Ganga aarti ceremony at the Dashashwamedh Ghat.

  2. Day 2: Haridwar
    4 hours (204 km) from Varanasi

    Start your day by taking a dip in the holy Ganges at Har Ki Pauri Ghat. Visit the Mansa Devi Temple and Chandi Devi Temple by cable car. In the evening, attend the Ganga aarti ceremony at Har Ki Pauri Ghat.

  3. Day 3: Yamunotri
    8 hours (260 km) from Haridwar

    Drive to Janki Chatti and then trek to Yamunotri, the source of the Yamuna River. Take a dip in the hot springs and visit the Yamunotri Temple dedicated to goddess Yamuna. Stay overnight in Yamunotri.

  4. Day 4: Gangotri
    7 hours (220 km) from Yamunotri

    Drive to Gangotri, the source of the Ganges River. Visit the Gangotri Temple dedicated to goddess Ganga. Take a dip in the holy Ganges River and trek to the Gaumukh Glacier, the source of the Ganges River. Stay overnight in Gangotri.

  5. Day 5: Kedarnath
    7 hours (225 km) from Gangotri

    Drive to Gaurikund and then trek to Kedarnath, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Visit the Kedarnath Temple and attend the evening aarti. Stay overnight in Kedarnath.

  6. Day 6: Badrinath
    9 hours (228 km) from Kedarnath

    Drive to Badrinath, one of the four Char Dham pilgrimage sites. Visit the Badrinath Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and take a dip in the Tapt Kund hot springs. Visit the Mana Village, the last village of India on the Indo-China border. Stay overnight in Badrinath.

  7. Day 7: Departure
    9 hours (315 km) from Badrinath to Dehradun Airport

    Drive to Dehradun Airport for your flight back home.

Recommendations

Consider taking a dip in the hot springs at Gangnani while driving from Haridwar to Yamunotri. You can also visit the ancient Bhimgoda Kund and Neelkanth Mahadev Temple on the way. If you have extra time, you can visit the Valley of Flowers National Park and Hemkund Sahib.
