Two Days in Delhi Itinerary (June 2023)

  1. Day 1: India Gate
25 minutes (6.6 km) from Indira Gandhi International Airport

Start your day at the iconic India Gate, a memorial to Indian soldiers who died in World War I. The best time to visit is in the morning when the weather is cooler. Take a relaxing stroll around the gardens and take some pictures with the impressive monument as the backdrop. For lunch, there are plenty of food stalls and vendors selling chaat, a popular street food in Delhi. In the afternoon, head over to Humayun's Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This impressive tomb was built in the 16th century and is the final resting place of Mughal Emperor Humayun. Finish the day with a visit to the Qutub Minar, the tallest brick minaret in the world.

  2. Day 2: Red Fort and Jama Masjid
25 minutes (6.8 km) from India Gate

Start your day at the Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This impressive fort was built in the 17th century and served as the residence of Mughal emperors for over 200 years. After exploring the fort, head over to Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India. The mosque was completed in 1656 and is still in use today. Make sure to dress modestly and remove your shoes before entering the mosque. For lunch, head to Chandni Chowk, a busy market in Old Delhi. Here you can sample some of the best street food in the city. In the afternoon, visit the Lotus Temple, a beautiful Bahai House of Worship. The temple is shaped like a lotus flower and is surrounded by tranquil gardens.

Recommendations

Make sure to visit the Akshardham Temple, one of the largest Hindu temples in the world. It's a stunning example of modern Indian architecture.
