Volunteering Itinerary in Madikeri for June 2023

    Interact with elephants and learn about their daily routines. You can assist the mahouts (elephant caretakers) with feeding, bathing, and other activities.

  2. 11:30AM: Raja's Seat
    40 minutes (19.2 km) from Dubare Elephant Camp

    Relax at this garden of seasonal flowers and beautiful fountains. The spot provides an excellent view of the hills.

  3. 1:30PM: Madikeri Fort
    8 minutes (2.2 km) from Raja's Seat

    Explore the historical Madikeri Fort and the museum inside. The fort was built in the 17th century by Mudduraja.

  4. 3:30PM: Gandhi Mantap
    9 minutes (2.6 km) from Madikeri Fort

    Pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at this peaceful mantap made of granite. The mantap is situated amidst a beautiful garden.

  5. 5:30PM: Abbey Falls
    25 minutes (8.6 km) from Gandhi Mantap

    Enjoy the serene view of waterfalls surrounded by lush greenery. You can spend some time in the coffee and spice plantations nearby.

Recommendations

Coorg has a lot of trekking spots. You can also visit the Omkareshwara Temple, Talacauvery (the source of River Cauvery), and the Nisargadhama Forest Reserve. If you have another day, you can visit the Bylakuppe Tibetan Settlement and the Namdroling Monastery. Don't forget to try the Coorgi cuisine, especially the pandi curry.
