7-Day Itinerary for Haridwar in September 2023

  1. Day 1: Har Ki Pauri

    Har Ki Pauri is a famous ghat on the banks of the Ganges River, and a popular spot to take a holy dip. Visit in the evening to witness the Ganga Aarti ceremony that takes place every day.

  2. Day 2: Mansa Devi Temple
    10 minutes (4.3 km) from Har Ki Pauri

    Visit the Mansa Devi Temple dedicated to goddess Mansa Devi, which can be reached either by a cable car or a trek uphill. Take in the panoramic view of the city from the top.

  3. Day 3: Chandi Devi Temple and Rajaji National Park
    25 minutes (9.4 km) from Mansa Devi Temple

    Chandi Devi Temple, another revered temple in Haridwar, can be reached by a cable car. In the afternoon, take a safari at Rajaji National park, where you can spot tigers, elephants and various species of birds.

  4. Day 4: Shantikunj and Patanjali Yogpeeth
    30 minutes (10.8 km) from Rajaji National Park

    Start your day at Shantikunj, a spiritual academy for the upliftment of humanity, and then visit the Patanjali Yogpeeth, where you can learn about Ayurveda, yoga and meditation.

  5. Day 5: Neel Dhara Pakshi Vihar and Piran Kaliyar Sharif
    40 minutes (20 km) from Patanjali Yogpeeth

    Neel Dhara Pakshi Vihar is a bird sanctuary where you can spot various migratory birds during the winter. Later, visit Piran Kaliyar Sharif, a revered Sufi shrine and pay your respects.

  6. Day 6: Anandamayi Ashram and Maya Devi Temple
    15 minutes (5.6 km) from Piran Kaliyar Sharif

    Start your day at Anandamayi Ashram, a spiritual center founded by the famous saint Anandamayi Ma, and later visit Maya Devi Temple, one of the three ancient Shakti Peethas in India.

  7. Day 7: Daksheswara Mahadev Temple and Bharat Mata Mandir
    15 minutes (4.2 km) from Maya Devi Temple

    Daksheswara Mahadev Temple is a famous Shiva temple where it is said Lord Shiva's consort Sati self-immolated herself. End your trip with a visit to Bharat Mata Mandir, a unique temple dedicated to Mother India.

Make sure to try the local street food, which includes chaat, kulhad wali lassi, and kachoris. You can also take a side trip to Rishikesh, the yoga capital of the world, which is just 20 km away from Haridwar. A visit to the Beatles Ashram and a rafting adventure on the Ganges are highly recommended.
