4-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Indore to Manali in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Beas Kund Trek
    30 minutes (8.8 miles) from Manali

    Start your trip with a trek to Beas Kund, a serene glacial lake surrounded by mountains. The trek is easy and perfect for families with children. You'll pass through lush meadows, a gushing river and a charming waterfall before reaching the lake. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the lake and take in the beauty of the surroundings. In the afternoon, visit the Hadimba Devi Temple, a wooden temple with intricate carvings, and the Manu Temple, a historical temple dedicated to sage Manu.

  2. Day 2: Solang Valley and Nehru Kund
    25 minutes (7.8 miles) from Manali

    Start your day with a visit to Solang Valley, a hub for adventure sports like paragliding, zorbing and skiing. Even if you're not up for these activities, take a cable car ride for breathtaking views of the valley. Drive to Nehru Kund, a natural spring believed to have medicinal properties. Visit the Vashisht Hot Springs in the evening, a natural hot water spring that is perfect for a relaxing dip.

  3. Day 3: Rohtang Pass and Bhrigu Lake Trek
    2 hours (38.5 miles) from Manali

    Start your day early and head to Rohtang Pass, a high mountain pass that connects Manali to Lahaul and Spiti. Marvel at the snow-capped peaks, glaciers and stunning landscapes. Try your hand at skiing or snowboarding if you're feeling adventurous. In the afternoon, trek to Bhrigu Lake, a high altitude lake that is said to change colours every now and then. The trek starts from Gulaba, which is a 45-minute drive from Rohtang Pass. Overnight in Gulaba.

  4. Day 4: Naggar Castle and Jana Falls
    1 hour 15 minutes (23 miles) from Manali

    Visit Naggar Castle in the morning, a historical castle converted into a heritage hotel. Take a guided tour and learn about the history of the castle and the surrounding areas. Visit the Nicholas Roerich Art Gallery nearby, a museum dedicated to the works of Russian painter Nicholas Roerich. In the afternoon, drive to Jana Falls, a hidden gem and a perfect spot for a picnic. The falls are surrounded by apple orchards and pine trees, and the sound of the water cascading down is soothing to the ears.

If you have time, visit the Great Himalayan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and explore the diverse flora and fauna. You can also try river rafting on the Beas River or visit the Manikaran Hot Springs. For a side trip, consider visiting Kasol, a quaint village known for its hippie culture and scenic beauty.
