3-Day Itinerary for Gangtok

  1. Day 1: Rumtek Monastery
    11 km (25 minutes) from Gangtok

    In the morning, visit the Rumtek Monastery which is the largest monastery in Sikkim. You can witness the beautiful Tibetan architecture and the Golden Stupa here. In the afternoon, head to the Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden which is located close to the Rumtek Monastery. It has a vast collection of exotic orchids, bamboos, and other tropical plants. In the evening, visit the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology to learn about the history and culture of Tibet and its people.

  2. Day 2: Tsomgo Lake and Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple
    38 km (1 hour 30 minutes) from Gangtok

    Start your day early and head to the Tsomgo Lake, which is a glacial lake situated at an altitude of 12,400 ft. The lake is surrounded by snow-capped mountains making it a perfect spot for photography. After spending a few hours here, head to the Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple, which is located nearby. This temple is dedicated to an Indian army soldier who died near the Nathu La Pass. In the evening, return to Gangtok and explore the local markets for some shopping.

  3. Day 3: Nathula Pass and Ganesh Tok
    52 km (2 hours) from Gangtok

    On your last day, visit the Nathula Pass, which is situated at an altitude of 14,140 ft and serves as a trade link between India and China. You will require a permit to visit this place, so make sure to get it in advance. After spending a few hours here, head back to Gangtok and visit Ganesh Tok, which is a temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha. From here, you can witness a panoramic view of the city. In the evening, head back to your hotel and relax.
