3-Day Itinerary for Tirupati in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Sri Venkateswara Temple
    10 minutes (3.2 km) from Tirupati Bus Station

    In the morning, head to the Sri Venkateswara Temple, one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the world. It is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara and is located on the seventh peak of the Tirumala Hills. The temple is known for its unique Dravidian architecture, intricate carvings, and gold-plated cupola. The temple opens at 5:00 am, and you can witness the Abhishekham ritual, followed by the Suprabhatham and Thomala Seva. In the afternoon, you can explore the nearby Deer Park and take a stroll around the Kalyani Dam. In the evening, visit the Kapila Teertham waterfalls, which is believed to have medicinal properties.

  2. Day 2: Chandragiri Fort and Srikalahasti Temple

    In the morning, head to the Chandragiri Fort, located on the Chandragiri hills. It was built in the 11th century and served as the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. The fort has eight ruined temples, a palace, a Raja Mahal, and a Rani Mahal. In the afternoon, head to the Srikalahasti Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is known for its exquisite carvings and is believed to be one of the Pancha Bhoota Sthalams, representing the element of air. It is also known for its Rahu-Ketu Pooja, which is believed to remove the effects of bad planetary positions. In the evening, visit the Swarnamukhi River and take a dip in its holy waters.

  3. Day 3: Talakona Waterfalls and Sri Vari Museum
    1 hour 30 minutes (58.6 km) from Srikalahasti Temple

    In the morning, head to the Talakona Waterfalls, located in the Sri Venkateswara National Park. The waterfall is 270 feet tall and is surrounded by lush greenery and wildlife. You can take a dip in the pool beneath the waterfall or go on a trek to explore the surrounding forest. In the afternoon, head to the Sri Vari Museum, which showcases the history of the Sri Venkateswara Temple. The museum has a collection of artifacts, sculptures, paintings, and photographs. You can also watch a short film about the temple's history. In the evening, visit the ISKCON temple and attend the evening aarti.
