Terranea Resort is a luxurious coastal retreat overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Spend your first day enjoying the resort's amenities, such as the spa, the golf course, and the multiple pools. In the afternoon, take a walk around the trail that goes through the resort and explore the stunning views of the ocean and the cliffs.
Start your day with a visit to the Wayfarers Chapel, a glass church designed by Lloyd Wright, son of famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Located in a peaceful forest, the chapel is the ideal place for meditation and contemplation. Afterward, drive a few minutes to Abalone Cove Shoreline Park & Ecological Reserve, a beautiful park with tide pools, rocky shores, and trails for hiking.
On your final day in Palos Verdes Estates, visit the Malaga Cove Plaza, a European-style village with art galleries, shops, cafes, and a farmer's market on Sundays. Afterward, head to the Palos Verdes Interpretive Center, a museum that showcases the natural and cultural history of the peninsula. The Center also has several hiking trails that offer awe-inspiring views of the coastline.
Palos Verdes Estates is a suburban area, so having a car is the best way to get around. If you're arriving at the Los Angeles International Airport, renting a car is the most convenient option. Going around the area takes around 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the traffic. Gas prices are around $4 per gallon, and parking is easy to find around the different sites in the itinerary.
If you have extra time, you can add a day or two to explore other nearby areas such as San Pedro, Long Beach, or Redondo Beach. If you have less time, you can skip the Terranea Resort and go directly to the other sites. Also, make sure to pack sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, and a reusable water bottle since temperatures can get hot in the area, particularly during summertime. Finally, don't forget to check the weather forecast and confirm the opening times of the sites before going.
