4-Day Ayodhya Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Ram Janmabhoomi
    10 minutes (4.2 km) from Ayodhya Junction

    In the morning, visit the Ram Janmabhoomi temple, one of the most significant Hindu pilgrimage sites. The temple is built on the birthplace of Lord Rama. In the afternoon, visit the Hanuman Garhi temple, a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. This temple is situated on a hill, and it offers a beautiful view of Ayodhya. In the evening, visit the Kanak Bhawan temple, which is dedicated to Lord Rama and his wife Sita. It is believed that Sita used to wear gold jewellery here.

  2. Day 2: Ramkatha Park and Nageshwarnath Temple
    25 minutes (6.7 km) from Ram Janmabhoomi

    In the morning, visit the Ramkatha Park, a beautiful garden situated on the banks of the Sarayu River. After that, visit the Nageshwarnath Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that Lord Rama himself installed the Shiva Lingam in this temple. In the evening, visit the Ayodhya Ghats, located on the banks of the Sarayu River. You can enjoy a boat ride here.

  3. Day 3: Mausoleum of Bahu Begum and Gulab Bari
    20 minutes (5.3 km) from Nageshwarnath Temple

    In the morning, visit the Mausoleum of Bahu Begum, the wife of Nawab Shuja-ud-Daula. The mausoleum is a beautiful blend of Mughal and Awadhi architecture. After that, visit the Raja Mandir, a beautiful white marble temple dedicated to Lord Rama. In the evening, visit the Gulab Bari, a beautiful garden with Mughal architecture. It is the tomb of Nawab Shuja-ud-Daula.

  4. Day 4: Kanpur Sangrahalaya and Ramkatha Museum
    15 minutes (5.1 km) from Gulab Bari

    In the morning, visit the Kanpur Sangrahalaya, a museum that showcases the history of Ayodhya. After that, visit the Ramkatha Museum, which is dedicated to the story of Lord Rama. In the evening, visit the Ayodhya Art Gallery, which showcases the work of local artists.

Recommendations

If you have time, you can visit the Treta Ke Thakur temple, the Valmiki Ramayan Bhawan, and the Kala Ram temple. Ayodhya is also famous for its street food, so don't forget to try the local delicacies. If you want to take a side trip, you can visit Faizabad, which is just 7 km away from Ayodhya.
